Arshan, 19

As a proficient math student, Arshan felt distanced from literary analysis and the narratives he was studying. Emotions didn't seem to connect for him and literature seemed all but haphazard.
We taught Arshan that English essays have structure by using models that made sequencing clear. His engagement increased when he had the chance to teach, and weekly diary entries helped him become more sensitive to his own emotions and those of the authors in his texts.

By reviewing new media every week, Ha-in was able to approach writing about new topics in a variety of communication styles. We shared film, stories, and music with each other weekly; he wrote music reviews and even translated and interpreted Korean songs into English. Meanwhile, detailed essay editing taught him how to choose accurate words and phrases to deliver his brilliant ideas effectively.
